Gender in War Captivity
IHR, University of London, 8 May 2015
Keynote lecture: Dr Matthias Reiss (University of Exeter)
The POW Network held its 2015 conference on ‘Gender in War Captivity’ on 8 May 2015 at the Institute of Historical Research, University of London. We would like to thank all speakers and attendees for their contribution to this event.
Following the lead of scholars including Iris Rachamimov and Bernice Archer, this one-day symposium sought to foster interdisciplinary dialogue about the construction, practice and meaning of gender in war detention and its aftermath. For this purpose, both gender and war captivity are broadly defined and we welcomed attendees researching any conflict and from any discipline.
A programme for the day is available here: Gender in War Captivity – Provisional programme April 2015.
Event kindly sponsored by the Institute of Historical Research and the Warwick Institute of Advanced Study.
